What happens on World Non-Governmental Organisation Day?

2014 marks the inauguration of World NGO day, a day intended to highlight, commemorate and exalt the immense and important work being done across the world by not-for-profit and non-governmental organisations, and the people involved creating a more just society for all. Since then, the day has been celebrated, with a particular theme in mind. The theme for 2023 is yet to be announced but in the meantime we’ve put together some ideas on how you can celebrate and commemorate the day.

5 Ways to Celebrate World NGO day

There are many ways to honour the day but we’ve put together a handful of ideas to get you started:

  • Discover and learn about the work NGOs are doing in your community
  • Become a volunteer at a local non-profit
  • Donate to a non-governmental organisation that aligns with your values
  • Tell a friend about a cause and not-for-profit organisation you’re passionate about
  • Sign up to an NGOs newsletter that resonates with you.

We also have a selection of charities providing care for people, pets and planets. If you would like to see your local charity featured on this list, please comment below and we would be thrilled to add them to the list.
